1980 P D S US Mint Uncirculated Sets Original Packaging
The 1980 U.S. Mint 6-Coin Proof Set is a beautifully crafted collector-assembled collection featuring all six denominations of U.S. coinage produced for collectors during 1980. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the set includes the Lincoln Memorial Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Susan B. Anthony Dollar, each bearing the "S" mintmark. Every coin was specially struck multiple times using highly polished dies and carefully prepared planchets, resulting in brilliant mirror-like fields, razor-sharp details, and, on many examples, striking cameo or deep cameo contrast. While the U.S. Mint officially marketed the standard five-coin Proof Set separately from the Susan B. Anthony Proof Dollar, collector-assembled six-coin sets combine all denominations into one attractive display. The 1980-S Susan B. Anthony Dollar continued the nation's small-size dollar coin series introduced the previous year and features Liberty represented by women's rights pioneer Susan B. Anthony on the obverse and the Apollo 11 mission insignia on the reverse. With an official five-coin Proof Set mintage of 3,554,806, the 1980 issue remains a favorite among collectors for its exceptional craftsmanship, complete denomination lineup, and its place in the early years of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar series.
