1958 U.S. Mint Proof Set w/Franklin Half-Dollar, Orig. envelope, COA

The 1958 U.S. Mint Proof Set is a handsome five-coin collection specially produced at the Philadelphia Mint for collectors. It contains the Lincoln Wheat Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Franklin Half Dollar, with the dime, quarter, and half dollar struck in 90% silver. Each coin was made using polished dies and carefully prepared planchets, creating sharp details, brilliant mirror-like fields, and, on some examples, attractive frosted cameo contrast. The coins were sealed in a clear cellophane flat pack, protected by cardboard inserts, and issued inside an official U.S. Mint envelope. With a mintage of 875,652 sets, the 1958 Proof Set is especially notable as the next-to-last Proof Set to feature the Lincoln Wheat Cent, giving it added historical interest along with its classic designs, silver content, and enduring collector appeal.
