1951-P Silver U.S. Proof set / Box
The 1951 U.S. Mint Proof Set is a classic five-coin collection struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the early years of the revived postwar Proof coinage program. The set includes the Lincoln Wheat Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Franklin Half Dollar, with the dime, quarter, and half dollar each composed of 90% silver. Every coin was specially struck using polished dies and carefully prepared planchets, producing sharp details, brilliant surfaces, and the mirror-like fields prized by collectors. Originally issued in individual cellophane sleeves and packaged together in an official U.S. Mint box, the 1951 Proof Set had a limited mintage of 57,500 sets, making it considerably scarcer than most later Proof Sets. Its attractive classic designs, silver content, early Proof packaging, and relatively low production make it a desirable addition to any collection of historic U.S. coinage.
