1953 United States Mint Silver Proof Set 5 Coin w Original Box

The 1953 U.S. Mint Proof Set is a handsome five-coin collection from the early years of the Mint’s revived postwar Proof program. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the set contains the Lincoln Wheat Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Franklin Half Dollar, with the dime, quarter, and half dollar composed of 90% silver. Each coin was specially produced using polished dies and carefully prepared planchets, resulting in sharp details, brilliant surfaces, and reflective fields that distinguish Proof coins from ordinary circulation strikes. With a mintage of 128,800 sets, the 1953 issue remains much scarcer than most later Proof Sets. Originally packaged with the coins individually sealed in cellophane sleeves and housed in an official U.S. Mint box, the 1953 Proof Set is valued for its classic designs, substantial silver content, early Mint packaging, and lasting collector appeal.
